This product is a high tech sun shade for rifle scopes which uses a honeycomb cell technology used by Army, Marine, and Special Forces to cut the glare that interferes with clear sighting. These ARDâS fit inside the Butler Creek Flip Openâą objective lens covers we stock for most scopes. The honeycomb cells are all but invisible through the scope, and they also prevent reflections from the scope lens from spooking game animals. ARDâs come in six sizes, and must be used in conjunction with the appropriate Butler Creek Cover for your scope.

Sunguard ARD 39-40-43(2012-06-01)
Mounted to the 10-40x 'scope on my M1A rifle, it has a good quality matrix that does not significantly decrease visibility and had no visible flaws. My 'scope did not need the adapter ring that it comes with.
Will reduce light coming into scope(2014-08-12)
I found that using this reduced light coming into the scope by about 10-15%, which is OK during the day, but a bit of a problem at dawn and dusk.
It may have slightly increased reticle contrast for some backgrounds.
I would therefore recommend this only for military or police snipers who need to reduce the chance of detection from scope lens flash.
BTW, some snipers use a pair of pantyhose under the scope cap for the same effect
