All show, and not enough of that (2018-09-07)

A comp on a rimfire rifle doesn't actually do anything but look cool. This comp couldn't do anything in any event, as the gas ports are all the way around. No upward venting to counteract muzzle rise or offset recoil. So we come to looks. The comp is a bad match for the Ruger Precision Rimfire. It's slightly larger in diameter than the barrel, and it's a different color. So instead of looking like an integral part of the barrel, it sticks out like a cheap addition. On the positive side, it does attach to a standard threaded muzzle, it does bottom out properly (unlike another reviewer's comment about some other rifle). No washer or other retention device included, nor instructions. It's overpriced and underperforming.

Great Product (2018-05-01)

I bought this purely for cosmetic reasons to fit on the end of my Tactical solutions 10/22 barrel. I can't say it does much for recoil or muzzle rise, but it is a .22lr so I don't really care. Either way I am sure it is not hurting anything. It does look awesome though. If money is tight or you are trying to build on a budget, I would probably not spent the money for it. If you want your rifle to look really good and/or money is no object, I would certainly get it.

Pretty Piece / A Bit Uneccessary (2010-08-23)

I bought this to go along with my Tactical Solutions bull barrel. It threads on easily and looks nice. Doesn't really seem to compensate for much, it is a .22 after all. It does vibrate loose, so a drop or two of loctite is needed.

It looks good, adds a little something to my customized 10/22, but does little to nothing as far as compensating. But then, I bought it more for looks than functionality anyway!

Almost perfect (2012-10-09)

This was purchased, primarily for aestectics, to replace the factory Mini-14 style cast iron muzzle brake included on my Ruger 10/22 "Tactical" carbine. The quality is top notch... and this thing is just perfect for a Browning Buckmark or Ruger 22/45 Lite with a threaded barrel, but as for my tacticool 10/22...

... unfortunately the female threading on this brake is about 1/4" too shallow, so that when it is fully threaded onto the barrel of my 10/22, there is a 1/8" gap between the rear of the brake and the factory muzzle brake washer. Remove the washer and the gap becomes almost 1/4" from brake to barrel step. Disappointing, though not the fault of TacSol or the brake itself, still very cool and perfect quality, and well worth the money, just realize it seems more intended for threaded pistol barrels, and may dissapoint you on the Ruger factory threaded barrels. I may have the barrel/threads shortened and re-crowned, if it doesn't cost too much more $$.

This is probably way too late but... (2014-07-17)

It struck me as I read through the comments about this product that the spacing problem could be cured by threading a nut on the threads of the barrel, then the backing washer, then the compensator. That way, you can screw the nut in or out to orient the comp anywhere you like and you dont have to have a smith cut off the end of the barrel and recrown. Just my thoughts and if someone contacted the manufacturer about the problem, they would probably be happy to throw a matching nut in the package with the comp.

Work great and looks great (2017-10-18)

Threaded perfectly onto my new bull barrel and is it same diameter as the barrel. I would definitely recommend this .
