One of the best things you'll ever buy (2009-12-18)

Shoulda bought this years ago! It's cheap, easy to mold, comfortable, and works as good as a $100 pair of muffs... without getting in the way of your stock. Stop reading this and just buy it!!!

Much better than foamies, but... (2010-09-18)

Bought these because foamies don't work in my ears at all and I wasn't allowed to use over-ear protection for a shooting course. They were easy to mold, worked very well for the pistol week, and were very easy to get in and out when the instructor called us over. However, when we moved to the rifle week, the muzzle blast from the guy shooting next to me still stung my ears pretty bad. Had I been allowed to use muffs over these, I probably would not have had that problem.

they molded easily, but i cannot no matter how many times or techniques I try get them back in my ears properly, they stick out of the canal just enough to not work.

Worth the money (2010-03-08)

I bought the custom molded earplugs a few weeks ago and I am glad that I did. The process of mixing the two sides and forming it to my ear was a lot easier that I thought it would be. I was a little worried about the curing process, so I let them sit over night to ensure they cured properly.

When I took them to the range I was a little apprehensive at first due to what seemed like a gap allowing some noise in. After a few minutes of warming up, the plugs snugged right up. I shot 50 rounds of .45 and they worked flawlessly.

I chose the blue version so there was a contrast between the hearing protection and my skin tone so there was no question on the range to others that I had in hearing protection.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and reliable solution for hearing protection.

Great plugs (2010-08-15)

These are nice plugs for times when muffs can be uncomfortable. Make sure you follow the instructions and be ready to go when you mix them because they set up quick. I bought two pair just in case, and I'm glad I did.

Be aware of the extended set up time. (2011-12-18)

I purchased this product to have an inexpensive set of plugs as a backup to my custom molded plugs from an audiologist.

The product is nicely packaged and comes with good instructions to include pictures. I followed the instructions closely but unlike the previous reviewer the setup time for the plugs was well over an hour. The instructions stated it should only have been ten minutes. At that time mark I still had very viscous material in my ear. During that time every two or three minutes I had to reform the exterior portion of the plug because it would slough downward out of my ear. Had I not done this the resulting plug would have been useless.

I did use the Red product rather than the blue so that may be a possible cause, however I doubt it.

Ultimately the extended process resulted in marginally useful plugs. Due to the extended curing time it was impossible to not move my mouth/jaw and alter the fit of the plugs which I am sure reduced their effectiveness.

Received a dud (2013-12-14)

According to the experts on the web, a small percentage of these fail to cure. I received one of the few that don't.

After 40 minutes my girlfriend had to dig the mess out of my ear. Not fun...
