NOT A SWIVEL STUD,I DONT CARE ABOUT THE SWIVEL.
HOWEVER I HAVE A MESA STOCK KIT FOR REM.870,BOUGHT THIS STUD TO REPLACE THE SLING LOOP ON THE BUTT STOCK,AS FAR AS I KNOW ITS THE SAME STYLE AR15 STOCK AS ANY OTHER AR STOCK.
PROBLEM IS ITS TO WIDE TO FIT THE MOUNTING GROOVE
IN THE STOCK,RESURFACE TO FIT.NOW IT FITS,BUT ITS TO SHORT,WONT BOTTOM OUT IN GROOVE,THIS CAUSES IT TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH IN THE GROOVE NOT GOOD.ALSO
THE THREADED HOLE IS THE SAME SIZE BUT DIFFERENT THREAD.PROBLEM,STUD IS TO SHORT,NEEDS TO BE LONGER
ON TOP,TO CLEAR THE STOCK,ALSO MUST BE BENT FORWWRD JUST LIKE THE SLING LOOP IT IS REPLACING.
SOLUTION,WELD STUD TO ORIGINAL SLING LOOP,CONNECT YOUR SLING,CLUMSY LOOKING BUT IT WORKS..

I would buy this rear stud again! (2010-08-23)

This AR15 rear swivel stud is as advertized. I replaced the rear sling loop on my 2 AR15s and it fit great on both. Fast and easy to install. Filled opening in stock very well. When the AR comes with a detachable sling stud on the free floating handguard, it should come with one of these on the rear stock.

Fit was dead nuts! (2011-05-26)

I don't know what one of the other guy's problem was in the reviews, but if you're looking for a stud for an AR-15 A2 stock that will accept sling swivels such as the Uncle Mike style...this is the one to buy. It fits PERFECT! Very Happy with my purchase.

Fits Some Carbine Stocks... (2012-04-29)

I was looking for the flexiblity offered by having a traditional swivel stud on my RRA carbine buttstock as opposed to the military-style loop, and found the KNS rear swivel. I contacted the factory regarding fit, and they told me that they can't guarantee fit with carbine stocks due to different tolerances used by all the myriad options out there. I decided to give it a shot, and am happy with the results.

The stud initially would not fit my RRA stock, but with minimal sanding and filing on the front edge, and then a bit of Dremel work on the rear top where the "shelves" on the stud contact the stock, it is now a perfect snug fit. All told, I removed approximately 1/16" from each location.

If you're moderately handy and don't mind doing some fitting, this opens up sling options you don't otherwise have with the traditional style swivels. I can now keep the same style Montana Sling on my AR that I have on other rifles, at the cost of 10-15 minutes of very simple work.

Perfect fit on my A2 stock, easy install (2013-03-21)

Very easy installation, both front and rear swivel mounts fit like a glove!

After installing the rear sling mount there were some small sharp edges left on the original slot for the military non-movable sling mount, but a minute of work with a razor knife fixed that.

The front sling swivel mount attached to my A2 handquards with no trouble at all. Just follow the directions and use a very small amount of Loctite on the threads and you are good to go.

I also bought the KNS parkerized sling swivels and they are a perfect match to the studs and hardware on my military looking AR.

I can now easily remove the sling for field stripping and maintenance, a lot better than the entrapped sling with the original non-detachable military style sling mounts.

The holes on the swivel studs are cross drilled, you can mount your sling swivel from traditional side to side as well as front to back. Allows options for mounting your sling on the side of the firearm if you like.

Very good product, recommend it highly.

Rear Sling SWivel for AR15 (2017-04-28)

I found out that this swivel was not designed for the adjustable, plastic stocks we use. It was for the original MA1A2 stock. I wanted for an adjustable stock so I had to cut off a piece of the stud and it fits and works perfectly now:

Simple stud that works. (2010-03-26)

This stud installed in 2 mins and spins 360 degrees not super stable but for standard hand guards works very well. This stud can be transferred to other hand guards or free float tubes down the road as needed. It is the prefect quick fix to add a bipod or better style swivle to your rifle.

More flexibility with minimal effort (2012-04-29)

If you have A2 style handguards, but want the flexibility that comes with QD swivel style sling options, this is a solid and cheap way to upgrade your AR.

Workd great (2016-06-04)

Wasn't sure just how this would work on my AR, but worked great. Had to add a couple of strips of foam tape to take some wiggle out of my tripod.
