Installed this on a 10/22 I put together for my father in law. He suffers from arthritis, this product makes it much easier and more comfortable to operate.
The handle is made from solid stainless steel, and comes a dull gray color. I did modify it by drilling the handle out to reduce weight and then polished it to match the bolt. This one has been 100% reliable in this firearm.
Many of the negative reviews sound like they were install incorrectly. The small pin holding the assembly together in the package must be removed for the rifle to function properly.

Retaining pin doesn't stay in 2017-09-30
The product originally looked like an awesome upgrade. Then I went to install it. The pin that retains the handle falls out. It's not held it at all. By anything. It's a very poorly designed piece and I definitely do not recommend it. The only recommendation I make is that Brownells stop carrying it.

I've used this product in two different 10/22's, a carbine with factory black stock and the factory target rifle with Clark Custom trigger group in factory aluminum housing ---- I tried other brands and didn't like them due to scope interference, binding, uncomfortable handles, and so on. This unit has a comfortable handle & fits well ---- Aldes from Canada is correct about the colour, the handle is a grayish/matte silver type colour -- easy solution: I took the handles from my pair along with a pair of PC titanium mag release's to a local gunsmith & had them gunkoted / cerakoted flat black, problem solved ---- Mine worked well for the brief time I got use them before the rifles were stolen ---- I'll be getting another set for the Mannlicher stocked 10/22's recently purchased.

Not the right dimension as the original, to heavy for nothing, poor quality of machining of the handle, bad design of mini pin, not silver more gray, not work properly. It's brand new and always jam.
Never buy power custom or you waste your money period.

Exactly what I was looking for 2012-08-31
Put a low profile scope on my 10/22 Takedown which made the stock charging handle difficult to use. This handle is exactly what I was wanting. The install was easy (with help from youtube video). Have not shot it yet with the new handle but from looks and physical functionality it is perfect.

You can't find a heavier duty charging handle for the 10/22 or Ruger Charger. I used it on 3 separate firearms, and it works perfectly and looks great. I notice some reviewers forget to pull out the shipping retainer pin, and then state that the rod is too short. That pin must be pulled out before installing...then it's good to go!

Headspace issue 2011-04-29
The spring rod on this product is shorter than the factory one, causing the bolt not to go into battery. It's not good when then customer states his gun won't fire now.

Great Bolt Handle 2010-08-04
I just installed this bolt handle yesterday then put 400 rounds through my 10/22 this morning and not a single failure to feed, fire, or eject the spent shell casings.
When I installed the new Bolt Handle I took some extra time to clean the inside of the receiver again then lightly oiled the Bolt Assembly and the new Bolt Handle as well as keeping the Bolt Handle perfectly straight when I put the Bolt Assembly back in the receiver.
I used the factory magazines and two Butler Creek Hot Lips 25 rd. magazines and both Remington, Winchester, and Federal .22 LR

On a Tapco stocked 10/22 with a factory carbine bbl, this part worked fine--there were no malfunctions in several boxes of promotional ammo--Remington Thunderbolt. Perhaps some bad experiences may occur with match barrels that have tighter chambers.

I will state up front that I have not function-fired my 10/22 with this part. I seems to work fine though. It is not a captured assembly like the factory part, thus routine field-stripping is tricky (but not impossible).

Problematic 2009-11-04
Have tried to use this product 3 different times on customized 10/22's and on each one the customer came back with problems with feeding, ejecting, and generally unreliable operation (verified by me). By reinstalling the factory handle the problems were eleminated. It appears that the "arch" over the bolt is too thin allowing the bolt to rise up slightly causing a light strike of the firing pin.
